About Us

Sevenoaks (founded in 1432) is a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 11 to 18. Just half an hour from Central London and Gatwick International Airport, our superb 100-acre campus is set in the Kent countryside.

Sevenoaks is one of the world’s leading IB schools, having taught the International Baccalaureate since 1978. All students in our Sixth Form take the IB Diploma. In 2023, our average IB Diploma score was 39.0 points, over eight points above the world average.

Sevenoaks is among the top schools in the UK. It was The Sunday Times Independent Co-educational School of the Year 2023, and the UK Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) awarded Sevenoaks the rare accolade of ‘Exceptional’ for its pupils’ achievement.

As a qualification, the IB is seen as the gold standard and excellent preparation for university. We are delighted that year on year our students go to the best universities for their chosen course. The majority attend a Russell Group institution in the UK, but we support an increasing number who apply to universities in other countries, and around 20% go on to North American, European and international universities.

Sevenoaks students have access to world class-facilities for co-curricular pursuits, including sport, music, drama and art, at least 70 clubs and societies, a wide range of study trips and exchanges, and a well-established community service programme.

With eight distinctive and comfortable boarding houses, our boarding community is fun, friendly and busy. Our houses are friendly places. At Sevenoaks the boarding community is truly international, with many different nationalities represented in each house, helping our students establish a global network of friends for life.

The school welcomed its first international student in the 1770s, and today its international outlook promotes the principles of open-mindedness and inclusivity. Our student body is truly diverse, with over 70 nationalities and a variety of faiths and beliefs represented. Students are encouraged to thrive in all areas of school life and the wider community, and thereby to flourish; they do so in an atmosphere that will nurture their talents, develop their interests and support them though the highs and lows of school life.

We have a thriving alumni network of Old Sennockians, living all over the world and enjoying an eclectic mix of careers.

We welcome applications to both our student and staff body from persons from all backgrounds and nationalities to our all-gender environment.
