Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity? Why not join our team at SGS Academy Trust as a Trustee or Local School Board member?
SGS Academy Trust is a small Trust with 3 unique schools dedicated to providing high-quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment for all its students. We are looking to recruit Trustees and Local School Board (LSB) members to help steer our Trust through the next exciting stage in its journey. Both roles bring different levels of responsibility, and at the core of these responsibilities are the young people and communities we serve.
We are looking for individuals who:
• Share our commitment to improving educational outcomes for all children.
• Bring diverse skills and perspectives to the Board with backgrounds in finance, HR, education, or law particularly welcomed.
• Have a desire to give back to the community and invest time in shaping a brighter future.
The Trustee and Local School Board roles are immensely rewarding. Working together, the Boards encourage and support executive and school leaders, while holding them to account for the best possible experience and outcomes for all our children and staff.
Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in embedding our mission, vision and values. The role of a Trustee is hugely important. It is strategic, critical in driving impactful change and most importantly, extremely valued. Trustees provide knowledge, expertise and have a strong skill set to drive the Trust forward and ensure it reaches its potential, whilst maintaining an organisation that is fulfilling its statutory and regulatory obligations.
Our Local School Boards play a key role in supporting our Trust Board to fulfil its purpose and to strengthen our Trusts governance. Local School Board members act as critical friends to school leaders, embracing and celebrating their school’s uniqueness while holding leaders to account for the improvement of educational provision for their students.
We provide full training and support to help you thrive in these rewarding roles.
We are looking for people who have:
• A strong commitment to education and improving outcomes for all students.
• Experience in governance, leadership, or strategic planning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with others.
• Integrity, impartiality, and a commitment to the highest standards of governance.
