The Role
We are seeking an experienced, creative and inspirational professional to join our team as Head of Dance ideally for September 2025 but will consider outstanding applicants for a January 2026 start. This role is a part-time role (0.8), working across our school day with specific days to be agreed.
in relation to the salary information listed, the role also attracts a management allowance of £6,775 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours)
About You
Dance was introduced to Reading Blue Coat School in September 2023 and is a popular, developing, aspect of school life. The successful candidate will build on this foundation to create an exciting, dynamic programme that engages a large portion of the school community. As a dance practitioner, you should be equally passionate about developing the co-curricular aspect of dance as well as delivering academically excellent lessons. You should be excited about introducing students to a range of styles including Street Dance, Commercial, Musical Theatre and Contemporary. You should be ready to make their mark and fully contribute to the life of a vibrant performing arts provision.
The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching dance, both academically and recreationally with the desire to make dance fully inclusive whilst also stretching our elite dancers. We are interested to hear from teachers with a proven track record of success within the AQA syllabus but also welcome practitioners with experience in the following: RAD, ISTD, IDTA, UDO and Rambert.
