Who are we?Francis Holland Regent's Park, was founded in 1878 by the Reverend Canon Francis Holland and is regarded today as one of London's most academically selective girls' independent day schools. The school is situated next to Regent's Park and has a reputation for its friendly, cohesive atmosphere.
For a starting date of September 2025, the school are seeking a well-qualified and experienced Spanish specialist to lead our Spanish Department. The successful candidate must have excellent subject knowledge and fluency in Spanish, with the ability to teach the subject from Year 7 through to Year 13, including preparing students for Oxbridge entry. In addition to Spanish, the ideal candidate will also be able to teach at least one other language-German, French, or Italian-up to GCSE level.
Modern Foreign Languages are a thriving and successful part of the curriculum at our school. French, German, Italian, and Spanish are all offered through to A level, and pupils consistently achieve excellent results at both GCSE and A level. All pupils begin with two languages in Year 7 (Thirds) and continue with at least one through to GCSE.
What are we looking for?
- Be an inspirational and enthusiastic teacher of Spanish to A Level and beyond and German, Italian or Spanish to at least KS4;
- Be an outstanding classroom teacher, with the ability to motivate and inspire students;
- Lead the Spanish department, including curriculum planning and implementation, assessment design and monitoring, responsibility for external exam entries and mock moderation, organising and leading trips abroad, seeking opportunities for students to participate in external events such as competitions or workshops;
- Keep fully informed of current educational initiatives especially relating to Modern Foreign Languages;
- Be willing to teach extra-curricular Oxbridge lessons in Spanish and mentor students taking the Extended Project in subjects related to Spanish;
- Organise and lead extra-curricular club(s) relating to Spanish on a weekly basis;
- Be expert in the use of ICT and use ICT confidently to enhance classroom teaching;
- Make a strong contribution to the pastoral life of the school;
- Have a PGCE and/or QTS.
