https://www.sgscol.ac.uk/ The SGS Construction Faculty is offering an exciting opportunity for a Construction Life Skills Lecturer.This role focuses on equipping learners aged 16 - 18 with the personal, social, and emotional tools needed to succeed in education, employment, and life. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering engaging, sensitive, and relevant tutorial content on topics such as health and wellbeing, drug and alcohol awareness, relationships, sexual health, and making safe and informed decisions.
This is a vital role that supports learners in becoming work-ready, resilient, and self-aware. You will help learners identify and overcome vulnerabilities, explore the impact of their actions, and develop practical coping strategies. Through boosting positivity and fostering reflective thinking, you will act as an influential role model, encouraging learners to take responsibility for their development, behaviour, and future success.
A background in working with vocational learners, especially in construction or related sectors, is beneficial. A teaching or coaching qualification is desirable.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Plan, develop, and deliver engaging and relevant life skills sessions for construction learners.
- Support the personal, social, and professional development of students through tutorial programmes.
- Monitor and support learner progress and well-being.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and personal responsibility.
- Work within the College Quality Management system and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld.
- Use management information systems to support learner engagement, retention, and progression.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications - Experience delivering life skills, PSHE, or tutorial-based programmes.
- A teaching or coaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Understanding of the construction learner demographic.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for supporting young people development beyond vocational training.
