Many of our students go on to gain employment or an apprenticeship within the construction industry.You should have a minimum of a L2 Carpentry qualification and at least 5 years experience of working extensively within construction industry as this is essential for this role.
You will be part of a thriving and exciting construction team delivering engaging lessons to level 1 and 2 learners who are undertaking the carpentry and construction qualifications. They will be completing industry placement within the construction sector and you will be supporting with equipping them for this experience.
If you are new to teaching we can support your journey into education providing an introductory course in education at level 3 (The Level 3 AET) to help start your teaching journey. We can also support you to undertake higher levels of teaching qualifications.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities - To undertake all forms of pedagogic work which will include classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
- To ensure the associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken.
- To undertake an annual teaching workload of contact hours for category A duties of 828 maximum (pro rata for part-time) as detailed in the College workload agreement.
- Personal tutor to number of students offering support, target setting and pastoral support. Sign posting to wellbeing and other support services
- To deliver an exceptional learner experience through outstanding teaching and assessment
- Develop relationships with local stakeholders to enhance partnership working for our learners
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications - Educated to L2 (Carpentry) or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Working within a HE/FE environment
- Industry experience in the construction industry is essential for this role
- A knowledge of construction working, standards and practices, especially Health and Safety
- Enthusiastic team player approach
- Want to help contribute to training the next generation of construction professionals
- Critical thinking to help encourage questioning and discuss in a classroom environment
- Understands the diverse backgrounds and needs of students
