Hours: 36 hours/week (alternate weeks: Week 1 - 7:00am-3:00pm; Week 2 - 10:30am-6:30pm)
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks/year
Are you practical, motivated, and ready to make a real difference in a thriving school environment? Eastlea Community School, part of Newham Community Learning, is looking for a reliable and hands-on (Assistant) Site Supervisor to join our friendly Premises Team.
You'll play a vital role in keeping our school safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. From maintenance and grounds upkeep to security, Health & Safety compliance, and emergency response, your work will help our school community thrive.
What You'll Do:- Use IT compliance tools (e.g., iAM Compliant) to log, track, and update maintenance jobs.
- Carry out planned and ad hoc maintenance of buildings, equipment, and non-curricular areas.
- Undertake handyperson duties, minor repairs, and improvements to school décor.
- Support the safe operation of mechanical, electrical, heating, water services, and lifts.
- Maintain school grounds: planting, pruning, weeding, watering, and general upkeep.
- Assist with security, fire safety, first aid equipment, and safe storage of hazardous materials.
- Respond proactively to emergencies (accidents, vandalism, or urgent maintenance).
- Liaise with contractors and internal teams to monitor services and contracts.
- Deputise for the Premises Manager when required.
- Undertake relevant training to ensure all duties are performed safely and effectively.

Who We're Looking For:- Experience in maintenance, handyperson duties, caretaking, building maintenance, or security (including alarm systems).
- Desirable: gardening/grounds maintenance and DIY skills.
- Team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
- Practical, proactive, and aware of Health & Safety regulations.
- Able to carry out manual handling and work at heights using appropriate equipment.
- Committed to safeguarding, promoting equality, and maintaining a safe and positive school environment.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to carry out premises inspections, risk assessments, and maintain accurate records.
