Wellington College is a vibrant, forward‑thinking boarding and day school where curiosity, ambition, and compassion shape every part of our community. We are now seeking an inspirational Teacher of Chemistry to join our dynamic academic team and help nurture a love of scientific thinking in pupils aged 13–18. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, with train and bus links providing easy access to transport connections, the College offers an environment where teachers can thrive, innovate, and contribute to a rich, values‑led educational experience.
The Chemistry Department is a lively, collaborative, and intellectually ambitious team whose work blends rigorous academic standards with a strong focus on practical science. Through imaginative curriculum design, extensive enrichment, and a culture of curiosity, the department encourages pupils to explore Chemistry from the macroscopic world to the sub‑microscopic and theoretical. You will join colleagues who bring energy, creativity, and deep subject expertise to every lesson, and who are committed to helping pupils develop analytical thinking, confidence, and a lifelong interest in science.
Teaching at Wellington is highly rewarding and deeply immersive. As a Teacher of Chemistry, you will deliver engaging lessons across GCSE, A‑level and the IB Diploma, working with pupils of varied backgrounds and abilities. You will be encouraged to bring innovative teaching strategies and digital tools into the classroom, inspiring independent thought and enabling pupils to stretch themselves academically. As part of a seven‑day‑a‑week boarding school, you will also play an active role in the wider life of the College, contributing to evening and weekend activities, House life, and the pastoral development of pupils. This includes serving as a tutor, building meaningful relationships, and supporting each pupil’s wellbeing and personal growth.
Beyond the classroom, you will have the opportunity to engage in a rich co‑curricular programme, offering clubs, societies, trips, or activities that reflect your own strengths and interests. Whether coaching sport, supporting creative endeavours, or contributing to our Global Citizenship and CCF programmes, your involvement will help shape a holistic and inspiring educational experience. Wellington is a community that values ongoing learning, and you will be supported in your own professional development through collaboration, reflection, and opportunities for further training.
