We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant for our Chinese language department, who is ready to improve pupils communication skills (in particular, oral skills) and develop their knowledge of a different society and culture.
The successful candidate will support the work of the Chinese language department in the school, under the supervision of the Chinese teachers, through whole class situations or one to one. This includes pronunciation, general conversation, aspects of the target language culture, and reinforcement of the topics seen in class.
They will also plan activities for lessons and produce resources to enable students to improve their language skills in and out of the classroom, as well as marking content and monitoring progress relating to speaking of specific year groups.
The role is a one-year fixed-term contract, starting in September 2026. Please note that the successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK for the whole duration of the contract (no sponsorship will be provided by the school).
Working hours are 8.40am to 4.40pm everyday with one hour for lunch. It is understood that, as with any teaching assistant role, some of the preparation of lessons and marking will extend beyond the standard hours. On some occasions, the candidate will be expected to teach one lesson before and/or after school.
The successful candidate should be willing to accompany day trips and residential trips abroad.
