About You
Do you have a passion for science and a drive to inspire the next generation? We are looking for a curious, organised, and reliable team player to help bring our curriculum to life.
Whether you are an experienced science technician, a laboratory researcher, or looking to transition your technical skills into education, you will play a vital role in a school where students are already excelling in high-level STEM. From helping Year 11s design aerodynamic racing cars to supporting Year 12s as they explore medical breakthroughs with partners like Vertex Pharmaceuticals, you will foster the enthusiasm that makes our practical learning so successful.
With a methodical approach and excellent attention to detail, you will ensure a safe, engaging environment where our students can thrive. If you take pride in supporting others and want to make a tangible difference in young people's learning, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in bringing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to life through immersive, 'hands-on' learning. You will work alongside a team that values real-world expertise, such as our recent hosting of professionals from BMW and the NHS, to ensure our students gain a professional perspective on science and industry.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will prepare equipment for dynamic practical lessons, such as our recent workshops where students learned to change F1 racing car tyres in just 4 seconds. Beyond the standard curriculum, you will also have the opportunity to support older students as they undertake independent research for the University of Southampton's Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
Combining technical expertise with creativity, you will maintain apparatus and chemical stores while ensuring all experiments meet high health and safety standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, adaptable individual to grow within a supportive community, with full training and ongoing professional development provided.
Why Join Us
This is an exciting time to join The Oxford Academy, where our values of 'commitment to others, commitment to learning' drive everything we do. We are looking for a dedicated professional who shares our belief that education has the power to transform lives and communities.
At our school, support is a collective effort: it's seen in our Sixth Formers tutoring younger pupils, our student-led assemblies on social responsibility, and our celebrated Student Council, whose representatives influence local policy on transport and safety at Delegates' Assemblies.
We don't just work within the community; we are an active part of it. From hosting our annual Community Iftar to partnering with the Oxford Hub Pre-Loved School Uniform Shop, we ensure our families feel cared for and included. If you have high expectations of yourself and others and want to be part of a culture where strong, warm relationships are the foundation of learning, we would love to welcome you to the team.
